Quasar is one of the most popular torrenting addons for Kodi on the web. Like most torrent powered Kodi addons, Quasar allows you to start watching a video torrent file before it’s finished downloading. It also scrapes multiple torrent sites, allowing you to search the internet’s most popular torrents sites simultaneously.

Before you proceed
We highly recommend using a VPN while streaming through Kodi. Kodi users have been known to receive copyright infringement notices for streaming movies, sports, and TV shows through various addons. If you would like to keep your streaming habits private, our recommendation is IPVanish – a complete privacy solution for Kodi users.
How to install Quasar for Kodi
Quasar installation in a nutshell: In order to install Quasar, the first thing you must do is configure Kodi to allow remote control by programs on other systems via the settings menu. Next, you have to download the appropriate Quasar zip file for your device and open it from inside of Kodi. Once you’ve installed the Quasar addon, the next step is to connect to the unofficial Quasar repository mirror and install a few Quasar providers. Once you set up the providers, you’ll be able to browse and download torrents from inside of the Quasar addon.
Now that you have the big picture idea of how the installation should proceed, here’s a detailed, step-by-step view of the process.
Step #1: Configure Kodi to allow remote control by programs on other systems
- To get to Kodi’s allow remote control by programs on other systems checkbox, navigate to system → settings → services → remote control.
Step #2: Download the Quasar installation file
The latest and greatest version of Quasar can be found at https://quasar.surge.sh/. Be sure to pick the installation file that matches your system. Quasar runs on Android, Linux, Apple and Windows devices.
Note: If you install the wrong version of Quasar, Kodi will generate errors when you try to run it.
Step #3: Install some Quasar providers
If you try to run Quasar without a provider, you’ll see an “unable to find any providers” popup appear on the lower right side of the screen.
To remedy the error depicted above, first install repository.unofficialquasarmirror[version number].zip to your desktop. Then, navigate to system → settings→ addons → install from zip file → desktop and choose the file you just downloaded to link up to the unofficial Quasar repository.
Once you see the installation complete popup appear, you can install some providers by navigating to system → settings→ addons → install from repository → unofficial quasar repo mirror → program addons.
Once you reach the program addons menu of the unofficial Quasar repo mirror, ignore all the Magnetic providers and scroll down to the Quasar providers located in the bottom half of the list.
Some providers are only good for finding certain kinds of content. For example, the HorribleSubs provider only works if you’re looking for anime videos. You can install as many providers as you want, so you may as well install several.
Once you’ve picked out some providers, you’ll be ready to start streaming torrents. Go back into Quasar and search for a show or movie you want to watch.
After you click a link, Quasar will cycle through your providers until it locates a working torrent file. After the file downloads a sufficient buffer, your torrent will begin to play.
