Best Kodi Addons for July 2017 – Top 4 New Addons after Kodipocalypse

Hello and welcome to another edition of our monthly addon roundup! In this article, we’ll be showing you the best Kodi addons as of July 2017. Last month, several popular addons shut down and a major website for Kodi addons called TVAddons went dark.

Many media outlets overreacted to the June shakeup.  Even though almost all of the major “must have” addons were still available throughout the crisis, some media outlets wondered whether or not the “end of Kodi” was near.  But new addons that have appeared on the scene in recent weeks prove that the Kodi community is still alive and well.

In June, we checked to make sure that 4 of our favorite addons were still around: Exodus, Specto, Pro Sport and USTVNow Plus.  With the exception of Exodus, most of the best addons seemed to be going strong.

This time around, we covered 4 brand new addons that stepped up to fill the void left by the Kodi addons that shut down in June: Duckpool, Bubbles, Goodfellas 2.0 and Wolfpack. Read on to find out how to install them.

Before we Proceed

We highly recommend using a VPN when using Kodi. Kodi users have been known to receive copyright infringement notices for streaming movies, sports, and TV shows through various addons. If you would like to keep your streaming habits private, our recommendation is IPVanish - a complete privacy solution for Kodi users. It's also worth noting that purchasing a 12 month subscription will give you two months free.

Goodfellas 2.0

Goodfellas is a new addon with an old name.  The original Goodfellas came out years ago, but slowly faded into obscurity as its links and menus fell into disrepair.  But recently, Goodfellas has reemerged as Goodfellas 2.0.  The latest incarnation of Goodfellas is super easy to use and has lots of on-demand content.  And, its IPTV links actually work.

Live TV

Most movie/TV addons simply link you to various TV shows and movies.  However, with Goodfellas 2.0 you can also watch live feeds of TV channels.

The feeds are grouped together in a fairly intuitive way.  The top 3 folders in the “free TV channels” section are:

  1. USA-UK-Canadian Channels
  2. News Channels
  3. Sports Channels

From the top menus you can drill down to find even more categories.  For example, if you click the USA-UK-Canadian Channels folder, you’ll find separate folders for Canadian, UK, US and Spanish language TV feeds.

On-demand content and playlists

When it comes to browsing for movies or TV shows, Goodfellas has more specific playlists compared to other movie/TV addons.  If you have no idea what to watch, you can browse useful categories like crime movies, kung-fu or sci-fi.

On the other hand, Goodfellas 2.0 doesn’t seem to have as many video locker sources compared to popular video addons like Specto.  Video addons depend on video lockers– sites located all around the world that host free video content.  Because Goodfellas probably only uses a few different sources, you’re more likely to run into a dead link when you try to open up a movie or show.

No configuration settings

There’s actually no easy way to tell what sources Goodfellas is using for feeds, because if you try to open up its settings you run into a message that reads “This addon cannot be configured.”

Other addons (like Duckpool and Bubbles for example) allow you to enable or disable individual sources.  This allows you to get rid of sources that take too long to load in your location.

A good all-in-one addon for beginners

The new version of Goodfellas packs a lot of functionality into a single addon.  Most addons are either good for finding live TV channels, or for finding links to on-demand content. However, Goodfellas 2.0 can do it all.

On the other hand, Goodfellas doesn’t search through as many sources for links.  So, you’re more likely to run into dead links if you use this addon.  Still, Goodfellas is a great addon to have in your arsenal– especially if you’re new to Kodi.  One of its biggest benefits is that it’s easy to use.

How to install Goodfellas 2.0

Here’s how to install Goodfellas 2.0 in 2 easy steps.

Download repository.goodfellas.zip from http://www.goodfellasteam.com/Repository/.  Then, open up your Kodi and click addons on the left side of the screen.  Next, click the box icon.

Duckpool

Like Goodfellas 2.0, Duckpool is an updated version of a classic video addon.  Before it was rebranded as Duckpool, this addon was called iStream.  After the XunityTalk programming group shut down in June, it handed iStream over to a developer that goes by the name Mucky Duck.  Mucky Duck reskinned iStream and updated many of its features a few days ago.

Built-in bookmarks

Unlike many video addons, Duckpool has a built-in bookmark system that you can use to save your favorite links.  If you find some streams that you would like to come back to at a later point, you can use the myStream bookmark system to save it for later.

To save a stream to myStream, just right click on a stream while browsing to pull up the contextual menu.  Then, select add to myStream to save it to your bookmarks. Additionally, Duckpool saves your search history.  This is convenient, because if you forgot what you were watching last time you can just use your search history to pick up where you left off.

Lots of sources

Duckpool has the same long list of sources that iStream had, so you’ll likely have plenty of streaming options no matter what you decide to watch.

Duckpool movie sources include: 123Movies, Bobby Movies, Cartoon HD, Cartoonextra, CmoviesHD, Easy News, Furk.net, GoMovies, HD-Online, HD365, HevcBluray, Ice Films, Index Of, iOnlineMovies, iTVMovie, M4U, MailRu, Movie25, Movie4uCC, MovieTube, movietvhub, MvGee, MyDownloadTubeOnline, Myvideo links, OnlineMovies, Pirate Junkies, PlayBoxHD, Prime Wire, Putlocker.is, SeeHD, Superchillin, TV-Release, Vidics.ch, Xmovies8, YesMovies and ZooCinema.

You can enable and disable each source via the settings menu.  This is convenient because you can enhance the speed of Duckpool by disabling geo-blocked or slow video locker sources.

More about geo-blocked sources

If you’re running into a lot of dead stream links while using Duckpool or other video addons, your ISP could be to blame.  Some ISPs place blocks on various sites that host streaming content.  Because many Duckpool sources have been targeted by the authorities, you may not be able to get full access to your addons if you live in certain countries.

Many Kodi fans that live in the UK and other countries with strict internet regulations have started using VPN services to “geo-hop” over the border into countries that don’t have as many restrictions.

Configuration wizard

The most unique thing about Bubbles is its configuration wizard.  The first time you open up Bubbles, message boxes guide you through the configuration process.

Most addons tend to leave the user hanging, but the information in the Bubbles wizard is written in plain language.  It does a great job of explaining what all of Bubbles’ features do.  Via the Bubbles configuration wizard, you can:

  • Change the menu language
  • Login to Trakt, a cloud-based bookmarking service for saving your favorite shows and movies
  • Download movie/tv show fan art
  • Login to a cloud downloading service called Premiumize
  • Login to a streaming service called RealDebrid
  • Login to a Usenet service called EasyNews
  • Enable torrent providers
  • Enable/disable “hoster” providers (free video locker sites)
  • Automatically detect and disable slow hoster providers

Hundreds of providers

Bubbles has a humongous list of video locker services.  Like Duckpool, each source can be enabled or disabled at any time.

Wolfpack

Wolfpack is yet another new all-in-one video addon that offers on-demand content, live TV and curated playlists.

A movie browser’s paradise

The best thing about Wolfpack is that it provides a ton of themed folders for browsing content.  The interface allows you to explore futuristic movies, superhero movies, movies from particular decades, box sets and more.

A screenshot of the “Wolves’ Den” folder on Wolfpack

Live TV

This addon has a great list of live TV feeds.  All of the links we tested out worked, which is a good sign that Wolfpack is updated on a regular basis.  However, all the channels were lumped together into one long list.  Goodfellas probably has a better navigation system, because you can browse its live TV links by country.  On Wolfpack, though, British, US and Canadian channels are all lumped together.

Live cams

Have you ever wanted to see what the Aurora Borealis looks like?  Have you ever wondered what baby panda bears do on a day-to-day basis?  If the answer to either of those questions was yes, give Wolfpack’s live cams section a look.  You can use it to gain access to interesting webcams located all over the world.

Not so user friendly

Wolfpack has many of the features found in Bubbles, however it is not as beginner friendly. You can login to Premiumize.me, Real Debrid and all kinds of other different streaming services, but you have to dig through the settings menu to find out where to enter in your login name and password.
